Read the label, save the jumper
The care label is your primary source. Check it before choosing a programme, temperature or drying method. Different fabrics need different treatment, and “hotter must be better” is a poor research hypothesis.
Empty pockets, close relevant fastenings and separate items according to their care needs and colour-transfer risk. Treat a stain using a suitable method for the fabric. If uncertain, stop and check rather than experimenting on someone’s favourite garment.
